To The Airwaves Community…
Since we first opened our floodgates in 2022, we’ve been looking at ways to improve our experience, while also simultaneously providing a place for creators to talk, share their work and access resources. As a result of the myriad of challenges similar networks face, we’ve felt the physical pressure driven by unwillingness of member to believe us, as well as operating on models that are no longer sustainable in today’s internet. These realities, not unique to Airwaves have long sparked discussions about our future. Today, it’s with regret that we make this following announcement.
After careful consideration and team member discussion, we are announcing the cessation of the Gaming Zone in our community Discord server, effective at the close of business on February 27.
This isn’t an easy call, but it is one that puts us in the direction of what we wish to emphasize, and that is lifestyle and sports.
Team members assigned to the Gaming Zone were informed today that they will be able to choose whether to continue as a moderator or not.
Most importantly, the remaining zones we have in our server will remain operational.
How we reached this decision
Airwaves reached this conclusion after determining that a specific emphasis for our space was needed. This is something not to be taken too lightly.
In reaching this decision, our team took a close examination at how each channel was utilized, or how each member’s roles reflected their preference, and it was ultimately determined that Gaming Zone did not have good usage at all.
Regrettably, this means we will begin the process of discontinuing the Gaming Zone, in order to protect the long term health of the server and focus on the channels that receive activity.
While today’s announcement is made with heavy hearts, this should also mark the start of a new era for Airwaves.
