The Grivio Signal #4: Taste Is the New Skill, Attention Is Getting Selective

Your monthly guide to what actually matters across the internet, so you can spend less time scrolling and more time building.

Hey community builders,

April was a lot. It's actually insane how fast culture is moving online right now.

There's so much to talk about, so much to share, and more importantly, a lot of this directly affects how your community grows over the next few months.

AI is getting cleaner, harder to spot, and way more dangerous if you're not paying attention.

Creators are becoming unicorns. Not the ones with the horns though.

More incredible games are dropping. Internet censorship is rising. Platforms are tightening. People are getting way more selective about where they spend their time.

And then there's this weird shift happening on Social Media. Low class versus high class. Nothing to do with money. Everything to do with taste, behavior, and how people show up online.

Here’s what actually changed.

AI: Clean, Fast, and Harder to Trust

The obvious AI phase is over.

No more broken hands. No more weird faces. No easy tells.

Now it’s clean, believable, and blending in.

That changes everything.

Signal: AI personas are scaling quietly

Accounts with fully AI-generated faces, lifestyles, and content are growing without friction.

No glitches. No suspicion. Most users don’t question it.

There are AI influencers posting photos with real celebrities, building audiences, and collaborating like normal creators. On the surface, nothing looks off.

If you’re not actively looking for it, you won’t catch it.

That’s the shift.

Signal: AI is becoming presence, not just content

People aren’t just consuming AI.

They’re talking to it.

Getting replies instantly.

Building habits around it.

That shifts attention from scrollinginteraction.

Signal: Content quality is flattening

Everyone can generate content now.

Most of it looks the same. Same tone. Same structure. Same “value.”

Skill is no longer the gap.

Selection is.

You can see major media companies starting to follow this. Apple recently released an ad and also put out a separate behind the scenes video showing how the original ad was filmed.

Same with Coinbase their ad campaign also came out with a behind the scenes video showing how it was made.

The point of doing this is to signal we actually made this it is not AI slop.

Right now, human signal > perfect content.

What to do

  • Show your face. Show your thinking. Be identifiable.

  • Add specifics. Stories. Opinions. Things AI can’t replicate.

  • Reduce volume. Increase intent.

  • Make trust visible. Don’t assume it exists.

Creator Economy: Influencers Are Becoming Unicorns

This is getting real now.

Top creators are no longer just earning.
They are building businesses at serious scale.

Signal: Creators are approaching billion dollar territory

Creators like Logan Paul and MrBeast are already operating at company level.

Multiple revenue streams. Products. Media. Distribution.

At this point, they look less like influencers and more like founders.

Some are already being valued close to, or at, billion dollar levels.

Signal: Infrastructure is catching up

Platforms like Passes are being built specifically to support this shift.

Direct monetization. Owned audiences. Subscription layers.

The stack is evolving around creators, not the other way around.

🎯 What to do

  • Treat your community like an asset, not an audience

  • Build direct monetization early, even if it’s small

  • Think in systems, not posts

  • Focus on retention, not just growth

The gap between small creators and top creators is widening fast.

Gaming: Shared Moments Are Winning

The shift isn’t “new genre” or “better graphics.”

It’s this:

People want shared experience, not solo play

Signal: Co-op and shared progression are outperforming

Games are being played together, discussed together, and turned into group moments.

Not clips. Not highlights.

Moments.

Signal: Minecraft sulfur biome is pulling builders back

New sulfur biome updates are circulating across creator spaces.

New materials. New environments. New reason to build again.

Minecraft spikes aren’t loud.
They start quiet and turn into content loops.

Signal: Helldivers 2 is still holding squads

It should have cooled off. It didn’t.

Updates and community missions are keeping players coordinated.

Signal: Dragon’s Dogma 2 is feeding clip loops

It’s not just being played. It’s being shared.

Weird AI behavior and chaotic moments are driving clips.

Signal: GTA VI speculation still hijacks attention

Every rumor or leak pulls engagement instantly.

Communities are watching closely.

Signal: Steam discovery is still brutal

If a game doesn’t spike early, it disappears.

Only a small % break through.

What to do

  • Run co-op events, watch sessions, shared playthroughs

  • Prepare for major launches before they happen

  • Create channels for showing, not just playing

  • Capture and repost community moments

Communities that create moments grow.
Communities that just talk about games stall.

Platforms: Quiet Control, Rising Friction

This isn’t about one update.

It’s cumulative.

Signal: Access is getting tighter

Discord verification pressure.
Monetization gates.
Algorithm shifts.

Everything is getting slightly harder.

Signal: People are moving inward

Public → private
Large → small
Open → gated

Not leaving platforms.

Just choosing better environments.

Signal: Attention is narrowing

More content exists.

But people are:

  • skipping faster

  • engaging less

  • filtering harder

Your competition is not creators.

It’s indifference.

🎯 What to do

  • Build a home base (email, Discord, owned space)

  • Give members a reason to stay (inside value, identity, culture)

  • Prioritize depth over scale

  • Remove friction for your core users

If platforms tighten, your community should feel easier, not harder.

Instagram: Taste Is the New Signal

This “low class vs high class” shift isn’t about money.

It’s about behavior.

Signal: Overposting is being ignored

Loud, frequent, trend-chasing content is fading.

People scroll past it instantly.

Signal: Controlled posting stands out

Less content. More intention.

Clear identity.

You remember it.

Signal: Identity > activity

Posting more doesn’t build presence.

Clarity does.

You can see this clearly in the image.

On one side, profiles are overloaded. Long bios, too many highlights, constant posting.

On the other side, you have the opposite.

Bad Bunny has zero posts. No profile picture. Nothing to prove.

That contrast is the shift.

More information does not signal value anymore.

Control does.

🎯 What to do

  • Define what your community stands for

  • Post less, but make it sharper

  • Remove filler content

  • Build a recognizable tone and identity

Restraint is starting to signal quality.

What’s Actually Happening Underneath

Everything connects:

AI → infinite content
Platforms → more control
Gaming → shared experience
Users → filtering harder

So communities become the filter.

That’s the role now.

Not noise.
Not volume.

Clarity.

The Vibe

Nothing feels stable.

But nothing is random either.

People are not disengaged.

They’re selective.

They want:

  • signal over noise

  • people over content

  • places over feeds

And they decide fast.

If You Run a Community

Do this:

Structure attention. Don’t let it scatter.
Filter hard. Remove what doesn’t matter.
Be visibly human. That’s your edge.
Own your audience. Don’t rely on platforms.
Stand for something clear. Vagueness kills growth.

TLDR

• AI content is now clean, believable, and harder to detect
• AI personas and “presence” are scaling fast
• Content quality is flattening — selection matters more
• Gaming is shifting toward shared moments and co-op play
• Big releases still create short, sharp attention spikes
• Platforms are tightening control and adding friction
• Users are moving toward smaller, focused communities
• Attention is narrowing, not disappearing
• Instagram is shifting toward restraint and identity
• Communities are becoming filters, not just gathering spaces

There is a lot happening.

Your community does not have to feel chaotic.

See you next issue.
