Welcome to thepurpletab.net ♡

Remember the little thrill of opening a new tab and stumbling onto something wonderful? That's the feeling we're bringing back.

thepurpletab.net is a cozy, early-2000s-inspired internet café on Discord for women and nonbinary people who love technology, math, learning, creativity, gaming, and making friends. We're international, English-speaking, and SFW.

You don't need to be a programmer, a STEM student, or an expert in anything. Whether you're writing your first line of code or you've been building things for years, there's a seat for you here.

What's inside

☕ The Café: casual chats, hobbies, games, and language exchange. The place to make friends and share whatever you're into lately.

⌘ The Lab: programming, math, AI, design, and all things tech. Ask questions, share projects, join study sessions, and learn together.

🎮 The Arcade: logic puzzles, math problems, coding challenges, creative activities, and community events. Play at your own pace and share your answers in #activities-chat.

🎧 Voice rooms: study together, play games, hang out, or open your own temporary room.

What we believe

• No gatekeeping. Beginner questions are always welcome.

• No pressure to be productive. Taking breaks and lurking are totally valid.

• No expectation that you already know everything.

• Respect, privacy, and personal boundaries come first.

Who it's for

Women and nonbinary people (trans members included) who are curious about tech: students, self-taught learners, professionals, or anyone who just likes poking around the internet. English learners and quiet members are very welcome.

How to join

Click the invite, read our rules, and accept them by reacting to the verification message. It only takes a few seconds! Then check out the welcome quest for a little map of the server, introduce yourself if you'd like, or just look around for a while.

Why it exists

I wanted a place that mixed my love of tech with the feeling of an old-school internet café: somewhere to learn things, share random interests, play games, and simply enjoy each other's company. We're brand new, so the people who join now get to help shape what this place becomes.

No experience required. Just bring your curiosity.
